making a list when the world is chaotic

journal

9 Aug

I hope y’all are doing okay. I know there’s a lot of noise going on around us, and it’s almost impossible to turn off. In my journal just now, I wrote about the chaos happening.

And then I thought about who will read my journal in the far, far future when I’m gone (like, 2120 or so). I didn’t want to leave my words like that. So I added a list of things that are happening in my daily life that are calm or bright spots. Although eclipsed, they’re happening, too. It ended up a nice list with things such as these from my evening:

  • walked the dog
  • met a new elderly neighbor who offered okra from his one-acre garden
  • he has the same nickname as my grandfather
  • and, he liked my dog
  • saw the first honeysuckle of the Summer
  • sent a video of it to our daughter so she’ll miss home
Honeysuckle blossom

Yes, the world is chaotic. But I can see this corner of it is not. This corner has a farming neighbor and a slow walk with the dog among honeysuckle blooms.

I hope you see a bright spot or a calm corner, too.
