Do not fret.
Do not fret.
Trust.
Dwell.
Delight.
Commit.
Rest.
Wait.
Do not fret.
Do not fret.
It only causes harm.
- David, Psalm 37

It’s interesting that no matter how many times I read the Bible – the exact same chapter – I get something new out of it each time. I opened Psalms to find comfort one day recently.
I’ve read Psalm 37 many times. Usually, I’m drawn to verses such as “trust in the Lord, and do good,” and “commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.” Another that has comforted me in the past: “rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.”
But this time, I noticed, for the first time, “Do not fret.” Then again. “Do not fret.” And again, with a reason why not to fret: “Do not fret. For it only causes harm.”

As I do when a quote or verse makes me hesitate, I wrote it down and put it on the wall – this time, over my bedroom desk.

Do not fret. It only causes harm.
