II Thessalonians 3:3

In my closet, I have a collection of verses like this one — verses that remind me to trust, to remember I’m not doing this battle alone.

When I’m especially down and the world is wearing me to the bone, my eyes will stray to this verse on my closet wall. He’ll guard me from the evil one. Isn’t that the warmest thought ever?

One recent lazy Spring Sunday, I played with watercolors in my favorite hues – the colors of the sea. I paired the watercolor painting with the verse handwritten below. Now, my eyes stray even more often to this verse on my wall! I’ve placed the above on on a board above my night stand, so I read it every single night.

He will establish me.

He will guard me from the evil one.

Why? Because He is faithful.

I can trust Him.

I do not need to be afraid.
